Palazzo Corvaja - Taormina

Exhibition with works by Corrado Cagli. Nostoi - Rome, New York, Taormina. Corrado Cagli (1910 - 1976), born in Ancona and brought up in Rome, in the late 1920s, together with other artists, he formed the group "New Roman School of Painting" (Scuola Romana) and became known for his murals, but he also left behind an extensive body of oil paintings and impressive pen-and-ink drawings, based on his war experiences and on mythological themes. In 1938, when Italian Fascism stepped up the persecution of Jews, Cagli fled to Paris and later went to New York where he became a U.S. citizen. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, was involved in the Normandy landings in 1944 and fought in Belgium and Germany. He was with the forces that liberated the concentration camp Buchenwald, and made a series of dramatic drawings on that subject. Later, he turned increasingly towards non-figurative, neo-Cubist, informal and experimental works. After returning back to Italy in 1948, he passsed long periods of his life in Taormina. The title of the exhibition "Nostoi" recount the Greek heroes’ return home following the end of the Trojan War.

La Cena (a Taormina Arte Production) by Giuseppe Manfridi, directed by Walter Manfrè, starring Andrea Tidona, Chiara Condrò, Stefano Skalkotos, Giulio Pampiglione. If there’s one play that puts the audience on stage, it’s this one: a perfect theatrical mechanism. Just 40 audience members seated at the table with the host. Everything is ready for dinner, but the plot twists leave the audience spellbound, drawing them into the story. An immersion in a story—not as a spectator but as a protagonist—with that strange sensation of having stumbled into the middle of a family drama and having no say in the matter.

Roberta Torre – Masterclass. Taormina Arte intends to return to large-scale theatrical productions.

These recent meetings with director Roberta Torre are part of our vision for the future. We want to create a group of actors, artists, and writers. We want to see if it’s possible to build a team dedicated to theatrical projects that will restore the festival’s artistic identity. Three days of workshops with young actors, professionals, and anyone who wants to listen and talk about theater, explore the themes proposed by the director, and embark on a journey of community-building and creative planning.

Palacongressi - Taormina

The Taormina Foundation has created its first theatre season 2026/2027 at Taormina’s Palacongressi, starting at October 30, 2026. This initiative marks a new cultural policy for the municipality of Taormina: the launch of a stable, ongoing cultural programme that runs throughout the year. The individual events – primarily theatre performances, but also music shows, musicals, acrobatic acts and classical ballet – can mainly be booked as part of various packages, whilst some are also available outside of a subscribed package. The theatre performances are all in Italian language.
