Taormina Castle

Taormina Castle – Madonna della Rocca, Taormina
The remains of the medieval arab-norman castle surround a large area on top of Monte Tauro, which watches from a height of 397 meters over the town of Taormina. The imposing, well-preserved walls give a vivid impression of the old castle. The views from up here are breathtaking, 360 degrees over the sea, as far as Mount Etna, the coastlines across to mainland Italy or in direction Catania, and the mountainous hinterland.

The castle can be reached by walking along a panoramic staircase carved into the rock that starts from the little church of Madonna della Rocca. From Villa Schuler to the Castle it is a walk of approx. 45 minutes.
