Events 2022 Taormina&Sicily

EVENTS 2022

Dear guests and friends of Hotel Villa Schuler. In previous years, we have always tried to help our guests and anyone who wanted to come to Taormina to plan their vacations by providing them with a comprehensive calendar of events.

In 2020 and partly also in 2021, virtually all events were canceled or postponed due to the pandemic, some of them to 2022. So we are happy to at least be able to alreadey announce some events for the 2022 season for Taormina and surroundings. Most of the events take place at open air locations, for examplge at the wonderful Teatro Antico of Taormina, one of the most beautiful open air locations of Italy, at the charming roman theatre Odeon of Taormina, at the Anfiteatro Falcone Borsellino of Zafferana Etnea and other beautiful locations in the region.

We will continue to look for new events and keep you updated here on our Hotel Villa Schuler events page. It’s worth checking back every once in a while to see if we’ve found something new.

Taobuk awards 2022. The taobuk awards 2022 will be given to Giorgio Parisi, Michel Houellebeque and Paul Auster.  Giorgio Parisi is an Italian theoretical physicist, focused on quantum field theory, statistival meanics and complex systems. Jointly with Klaus Hasselmann und Syukuro Manabe he was awarded the the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2021. Among others he worked on the collective motion of animals (such as swarms and flocks). He also introduced, together with other Italian physicists, the concept of stochastic resonance in the study of climate change. Michel Houellebeque, the french author, known by his complex and provocative novels such as Les Particules élémentaires (The Elementary Particles), Suomission (Submission), Sérotonine (Serotonin), is a highly controversial intellectual. Due to numerous passages in Houellebecq’s novels, he is regularly accused of being a racist, misogynist, reactionary or anti-religion (mostly Islamophobic). Houellebecq himself, who has been titled a „nouveau réactionnaire,“ has partially confirmed these accusations in interviews through provocative statements. Meanwhile, he positions himself as neither „left“ nor „right“ and as an agnostic with regard to religion. Houellebecq described himself as the „writer of a nihilistic era and of the suffering that comes with nihilism“. Paul Auster is one of the most famous american authors. His notable works include The New York Trilogy, The Music of Chance, Leviathan, The Book of Illusions, The Brooklyn Follies, Invisible, Sunset Park, and 4 3 2 1. His books have been translated into more than forty languages. Auster has perfected a limpid, confessional style, used it to set disoriented heroes in a seemingly familiar world gradually suffused with mounting uneasiness, vague menace and possible hallucination. His plots keep readers turning the pages.
