Ex Convento del Ritiro - Via Mirabella, Ortigia Siracusa
L'Annunciazione (The Annunciation) The painting by Sicily's most famous painter Antonello da Messina is back to Siracuse. After long restoration works the painting now will be shown again. Before it was in a very bad state. The painting is dedicated to Antonello da Messina from the year 1474 and was made for the Chiesa di Santa Maria Annunziata of Palazzolo Acreide. The painting is especially appreciated for its wonderful harmony of architecture, light and expression of the protagonists. The exhibition on the restuaration and on the painting will be opened on December 23 at the temporary domicile of the Galleria Regionale di Palazzo Bellomo di Siracusa, the Ex Convento del Ritiro at Syracuse. (Tuesday to Sunday 9.00 to 19.00 h)
